Here's a list of films I was wondering about: * Wings (1928) * All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) * Mom and Dad (1945) * Spring in a Small Town (1948) * Chained for Life (1951) * Last Train from Gun Hill (1959) * The Deadly Companions (1961) * Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966) * The Moon and the Desert (1973) * Laser Mission (1990) I know someone who knows someone who used to run an direct-to-dvd company that went broke, If I can pull some strings and upload his "movies" on this site as public domain (after the owner agreed on doing so off course). Do they become PD or do the rights go to the government or something like that.

Don't know about the others offhand, but All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) is here at IA.

"Manos The Hands Of Fate" used to be here, but I just checked and it seems to be gone, and I don't know why. There may have been a copyright issue, but that's just a guess. If a movie was made before 1978, checking with the United States Copyright Office isn't always helpful because even though no information comes up on a particular film, it doesn't always mean it's PD. Wait until someone weighs in with more definite info then upload what you can. It looks like you have a pretty good list.
